Ok, you want to live in Canada right? But what do you know about this country? And why do you want to live in Canada? Do you think your life is not good and living in Canada your life will be better? But what better means to you?
Canada is not a perfect country and will never be. As every country in this world we also have problems. Some of them are smaller than the ones you have in your country. That’s maybe why you want to live in Canada. However, keep in mind that this is not an easy decision and it takes time, patience and research. Do not come to Canada because a friend of yours is living in Canada as an immigrant, he’s having success and it will happens the same to you. No, don’t do this.
Do your own research, do your homework and check why do you want to live in Canada. What makes Canada your best choice? It is known that Canada is looking for immigrants - by the way qualified, experienced, skilled immigrants - but at the same time the demand is so big that people that already immigrated to Canada are having difficulties finding a job in your field. This could happens to you, too. Doesn’t matter if you have more than 10 years of experience in your country. Here, you are one more immigrant. Ok, you have your qualifications but the only way that you can prove this is with the well known Canadian experience.
That’s why you have to find yourself, talk with people, study and even visit Canada before making your decision. Come and see with your eyes. Do you know, for example:
- That each province has its own provincial program to select immigrants?
- The weather of the region that you’re planning to live in Canada?
- How the health system works in your city?
- The timezone, the number of hours ahead or behind compared with your country?
- The cost to go to your country, in case needed?
- Maybe you are not qualified to work in your field when you come to Canada?
- How much money do you need in order to immigrate to Canada?
- The effect that your life will have once you’re living in Canada?
- What you’re used to do in your country, you cannot do it here?
- The laws that protect every person that lives in Canada? Sexual abuse, discrimination, harassment, religion, abortion, racism? Are you ready to live in a multicultural country?
Ask yourself those questions and if you don’t know the answer, think about them. Once you are an immigrant in Canada, you will receive your visa and also acquiring a headache every single day of your life. Why? Well, you will be always comparing what you have in Canada with your country. Write what I am saying today. And the last question: are you happy living in Canada? My answer is yes, I am very happy and I know I did the right thing. However, what makes my life good here maybe couldn’t be good for you. Got it?
