by Gean Oliveira on November 10, 2007

There are a lot of websites that you can use to find a job in Canada. It is always good to put your resume online. However, keep in mind that you need to have your resume in a canadian format. Chances are that you will re-write your resume again with the Canadian format. Oh, I almost forgot :) You will have at least 10 copies of your resume – one copy for each job you apply. Be organized and try to keep a copy of your resumes.

Below you can find a list of good places to submit your resume online:

What I should also tell you is that most of the time, before companies start looking for a job and also advertise, they look for references for its own employees. So, tell everyone that you’re looking for a job. Network is the key to find a job in Canada.

I am looking forward to joining the Canadian workforce within the next year. I am currently pursuing my deug Degree in sosyoulgie and a Minor in Religion at Lee University in in fez Tennessee. My scheduled graduation date is summer 2011. My immigration status is F-1 international student from St. Lucia. I hope to apply for a work permit within the next few months as my goal is to move to Canada when I graduate. I am aware of the work permit process and most of my paper work are in place and will be furbished to you when needed. I would also want to know if employers apply for a work permit on your behalf because in order to apply for a work permit I would need to find an employer who is willing to hire me.Please take my interest into consideration. I have also attached a copy of my resume to this email.

Please help me assess this reply from my application in one of the websites to work in Canada. I am very cautious because as everybody knows about the prevalent scam jobs in the internet especially for Canada or UK, but this one before I proceed, because sometimes they will get you hook for the interview through mails and you will invest time and effort then ask you later on money for the work permit etc...I don't want to be a victim again, though I haven't go to the end of sending any money. But this one, please check..do company's in Canada really need to require this?
What is the right procedure on applying directly in Canada? How do they send the documents once you're hired? I would like to try not to go through an agency, hope this is good.

"As it was stated clearly in my previous email,I would like to let you know you will have to meet all the company's requirements before we can issue out all the documents you will need to secure your work permit. We don't require any processing payment for the documents that will be issued out to you.Due to the issue we have had in the past with people using our documents for illegal activities and fraudulent purposes we have taking this step as a precaution for that,You will have to make a funds deposit with the company prior to issuing you the documents you will need to secure your work permit and upon your arrival to Canada,Your money will be reimbursed back to you in full.

This step as been taken to check the legitimate use of our documents and to make sure clients we offered job letter/employment letter will come to Canada and work with us."

  • Baldev: It is difficult to find a job in Canada if you're not living here. Maybe your resume is not written the way employers are looking for in Canada? Maybe you don't have the qualifications needed for the job? Why don't you try to come to Canada and see yourself? You can find answer to your questions.

Lethicha: The websites are the same. However, as you said, if you don't have experience, it is really difficult for you to find a job in Canada. Maybe you can come to Canada as a student, look for a college or university and then, at the end of the course, look for jobs in Canada.

The first thing you should know is if you have the skills or not to immigrate. I'd say you check your qualifications at http://www.cic.gc.ca and look for the Skilled Worker program.
