Where do immigrants come from?

Canada Maple leaf Every year more and more people are choosing Canada as a new place to live. But do you know where do they come from?

Here’s the top 10 list, based on 2006 census:

China
India
Philippines
Pakistan
United States
Iran
United Kingdom
Republic of South Korea
Colombia
France

As we could see we have one country from North America (United States), one country from South America (Colombia), two countries from Europe (United Kingdom and France) and six countries from Asia/Pacific. What is the main reason of leaving those countries?
If you are from one of those countries, I could imagine how long does it take to receive your visa. In Brazil, it usually takes 12 months. Good luck!

Hi my name is Victoria . I'm not sure if this " topic " is still active , but I actually have some questions .

Im doing a school project on the top ten countries that immigrate to Canada from anytime between 2005-2010 . Our teacher wants us to all find the information on the internet . I have found several sites just with the countries , but the thing is was also need the precent of people from that country that came to canada that year . I have yet to find a site with all this information! So if you could , can you comment me back a site or maybe any information that would help me with this project!? Please respond as soon as possible !

i have a question. my wife and i did our landing last year, but did not move to canada then. we will move there next spring. we had a son since then..he was born in the united states. how do i bring him with us when we move there permanently?

Gean, could you please send me the link to this census? In the US when you mention Canada, people just make jokes at how weird their northern neighbours are.. But yet, US immigrants are in the top 5 of immigrants in Canada. I guess free healthcare is good :- )
