Places to rent in Ontario

by Gean Oliveira on October 1, 2008

Are you living in ? Or do you have plans to live in ? Well, it that’s the case maybe you’re looking for places to rent in right? There are a lot of websites aimed to help you find a place to rent in . Of course the first thing that you should know is the city that you’re planning to live in .

However, what are your options?

There are a lot of different rental units, such as apartments, condos, townhouses, bachelors, studios, semi-detached, detached and so on. Each one has its own particularity.

If you are renting an unit, you’re considered a tenant. The person that is renting the unit to you is called a landlord. If you’re renting an apartment in a highrise, sometimes you also have the superintendent (aka super).

Once you find a place to rent, you’re supposed to sign a contract (or a lease). The lease specify the responsibilities for both tenant and landlord. Don’t forget that if you’re living in you must obey the Residential Tenancies Acts.

Some of the commom questions for tenants could be answered here. Another important site that you should look at is the Landlord and Tenant Board of Ontario. Oh, and I almost forgot some of the places that you can use to find a unit to rent in :

  1. Craigslist
  2. Kijiji
  3. HousingMappings
  4. Neighborhood Information post
  5. ViewIT
