How do I know if my experience matches what companies in Canada are looking for?

by Gean Oliveira on January 9, 2010

Every once in a while I receive an e-mail from a reader asking me if they can work in Canada. Sometimes, they don’t even know if they can work in Canada doing what they are already doing in where they live. For example. Doctors. If you are a doctor, your profession is on the list of 38 professions that Canada is looking for. However, you can possibly immigrate to Canada – that does not mean that once you are in Canada you will work as a doctor, because as of today, you will not!

This could happen for other professions as well, and the best way for you to know is looking for jobs in Canada in the same field as you are. Doing that, you know the requirements for the job, you know companies that could match your criteria, you have the chance to start preparing your resumes and make notes about the job. Got it?

Now the question is.. where should I look for jobs in Canada? Just read my post about it.

I am so frustrated everywhere I look, websites provide half the info and leave out the most practical aspects, i.e, what is the Canadian format for resumes?

This regulated profession rule is something each and every immigrant should be aware of. It would prevent so many disappointment, until the government solves the problem!
