Have you ever received a call late night or even when you’re having dinner? Did you notice that those calls are mostly at nights? Oh, you’re probably at home right?
I did and to tell you the truth, I was quite polite. When they asked me for some surveys I politely said no, thanks and went back to what I was doing before. However, they called me back again, 2 weeks before asking me again if I want to participate on the same survey. What did I do? Hang up. Excuse-me!!! I am sorry, but that’s my time at home and I don’t want to be bothered.
Here in Canada we don’t have the Do Not Call Me List, as we have south the border. However, we’re getting there sooner or later. If you don’t want to participate in surveys, receive calls from memberships, donations, etc, visit IOptOut website and register.
The process is fairly simple:
- Enter your contact information;
- Select the organizations you don’t want to hear from;
- IOptOut generates a request to those organizations you choose.
You can follow the discussion at the Toronto Star with its columnist Michael Geist.
[Update Sep 30, 2008] The service is available now. Please check the Do not call list website.
