If you’re planning your holidays in Canada below you can find a list of public holidays in Canada for 2008 (national level):
- January 1st: New year’s day
- March 21st: Good Friday
- March 24th: Easter Monday
- May 19th: Victoria’s day
- July 1st: Canada’s day
- September 1st: Labour day
- October 13th: Thanksgiving day
- November 11th: Remembrance day
- December 25th: Christmas day
- December 26th: Boxing day
Please add to the list above the provincial holidays as well. It depends for each province as you know. In Ontario, the province that I’m living right now we also have the following holidays in 2008:
- Third Monday of February: Family day (this is the Ontario’s newest holiday)
- First Monday of August: Civic Holiday
If you’d like to check your province see the complete list here.
Based on the list above, the best time to get some days off in your advantage is the month of March. As we have Good Friday and Easter Monday, all together we have 4 days (Friday, Saturday, Sunday, Monday). What you can do is say start your vacation before March 21st and finish after March 24th.
Where should I go? Where would you want to go?

Carlos,
I’ve never had Easter Monday as a day off in Canada (in 2 different companies that I worked at). I think that holiday only applies to government offices.

Hey Camilo, that’s true - You’re right. I’ve never had, too. I was thinking this is too good to be true
Thanks for the information.
