100+ posts

I’ve been writing at How to Live in Canada since October 2007. It’s being a year already…. I remember my first post: One more immigrant living in Canada. As of today, we have more than 500 subscribers (and counting – which is good) and more than 100 posts. But what do I miss?

What I really miss here is the interaction with my readers. I’ve been promoting some polls on my blog but they’re not enough. I’m ready to help you, but in order to do this I need to know from you what you want to see here at How to Live in Canada.

When I was living in Brazil I had a lot of questions about living and being successful in Canada. I know that back in 2000 we did not have a lot of blogs as we do have today. However, even today with the easy access to Internet I am sure there are a lot of people interested to live and work in Canada. So, are you?

If yes, I’d love to hear more from you. Tell me what you have in mind, what you want to see, what interests you and what can I do to make this experience even better. Doing it alone it is not easy but when we know that we have someone else waiting for something to be said makes this experience unique and exciting.

I wish you a good weekend and I’d hope to hear more. C’mon.. what you have to say?

    Sir,
Thank you for such an opportunity that is quite different from other post.
Yes,i am interested to live and work in canada,it has been a dream from child hood,i don't know much about canada but each time i hear someone mention canada or about canada i feel, that's the place i should originate from.here in nigeria my dreams are dying silently such as my educational career and talents to mention but few,i feel life will be better living in canada, actualizing my dreams and forging ahead.
I don't expect to see heaven, paradise or a place full of bed of roses in canada but i want to see myself work for a better living, while planing ahead.
However,my problem is that i need an employer to sponsor me to get my visa and canadian experience

  • Camila: The city depends the university and of course the university depends on the degree that you're interested. I'd suggest you visit http://www.studyincanada.com to start.

Fábio: Money depends of your lifestyle. Of course as an immigrant in Canada you should bring at least Cdn 10,000.00 dollars. If you have family members accompanying you, this value should increase. I've written before about the cost of living in Toronto.
Vadim: There's a new post at How to Live in Canada that I've asked the question: Do you have Canadian friends?

  • vadim

    Hi Oliveira,

My question will be a bit personal.
Have you found new friends in Toronto, not Brazilian, but Canadian?
How do you spend your free time: weekend, vacation?

  • Fábio

    Hello Mr. Oliveira,

I would like to know how much money one should take along in order to support reasonable living expenses in Canada before getting a job. How many months it took you before you received your first salary? and at last, how much money did you take into Canada?

  • Camila

Hi, my name is Camila and I want to go to Canada next year! I've been receiving e-mails from "How To Live in Canada" and it's really helping me trough my decision about going to Canada. So, thanks very much!
I want to do the university there; do you recommend any in particularly? And I still don't know witch city I want to go, could you tell me about some of them?

Well, thanks again! This is a wonderful blog, the best!

    See you, Camila.
